A Fashionable Experience

Hey everyone,

SO .. I have exciting news! I have decided to partly use my blog (Sweet Label) as a journal to report on my experiences whilst on placement. For those of you that do not know what a placement year is.. well..here there is a small explanation:

“Placement year is part of my degree at university, and It is basically an academic year in which, I am supposed to get some ‘real’ work experience abroad”

Let’s start at the beginning… as you may have already figured out, I have decided to pursue fashion as a career line. Hence, I intended to get some ‘real’ work experience in this field. Luckily enough, I got (with some help) an amazing opportunity to work/intern for a very talented Spanish designer, Celia Bernardo. She founded her own womenswear brand in Shanghai, back in 2012. This brand has been named after her, ‘CeliaB’. Preserving her latin roots, CeliaB has been breaking the news and getting attention for some time now, mainly in Asia but also in some European countries.

I have been working with Celia and her amazing team for just over a month now, and it has been such a great journey. The past month, CeliaB participated in fashion exhibitions and fashion trade shows, such as CHIC Shanghai and the OnTimeShow in Xintiandi, Shanghai. If this was not amazing enough, Celia totally rocked her own designs, when assisting to few runway shows at Shanghai Fashion Week.

Trade shows and exhibitions were such great experiences for me as an intern. Even though this was a very busy time, from preparing all the samples, to actually being there and meeting important people in the field, such as buyers and the press. It was also a time in which, I learned a lot about this fast-paced industry and realised how much I absolutely LOVE it.

oh yes… did I mention that I am actually living in Shanghai? Well, I’ll be living here for just few months, but I already like Shanghai so much, I wish I was staying here longer. The ‘Paris of the East’ as some people call it, has not ceased to amaze me. It is a city in which, western and eastern culture definitely come together. I have decided to make the most of my time here and the best part is, that I will be sharing all (most) of my adventures with you guys!
